One of my favorite movies is Rush Hour, released in 1998 and starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. It’s a buddy-cop story about two crimefighters from opposite sides of the globe who come together to search for a kidnapped little girl - and they are very, very different, in everything from fighting styles from musical choices. I know it’s a cliche, but it’s hilarious because it works. Jackie Chan is a serious martial artist and Chris Tucker is a flamboyant LAPD cop, and they clash at every opportunity even as they refuse to admit they’re becoming friends. I love stories like that, where two people come together under unusual circumstances and make the best of it. Not to mention, Jackie and Chris have amazing comedic timing!
Rush Hour is one of those movies that I can’t pass up when I catch it on directtv. Every time, without fail, I just have to stop and watch. And to further suck away my time, they’re usually broadcast with both sequels - so I’m stuck on the couch all day, watching action scenes I can’t seem to get enough of, and quoting the movie back at the characters like I’m really there.
Rush Hour should come with a warning label!
